Sometimes a decoder has reached the end of its life and replacement is simply the sensible call. The older HD PVRs have been out of support for a while, the original Exploras are into their tenth year, and anything that's taken a power surge on the nose during a Gauteng storm is usually past economic repair. When that's the situation, replacement is cheaper and faster than repair — you just want it done by someone who'll pair the new unit properly and transfer whatever recordings can still be saved.
We carry Explora 2, Explora Ultra, and standard HD decoders in stock on every vehicle. Pairing a new decoder with your existing MultiChoice subscription takes about ten minutes once the hardware is fitted. We also handle the trade-in of the old unit if you want it removed — MultiChoice accepts them for recycling and we take them in on your behalf.

Common questions
Will I lose my recordings when the decoder is replaced?+
Recordings on the old internal drive don't transfer, but anything on an external Archive drive comes across once the new decoder is paired. We'll tell you upfront what can and can't be saved.
Does MultiChoice need to be involved in the replacement?+
We handle the pairing directly during the install. You don't need to phone MultiChoice separately unless there's a smartcard issue, in which case we'll do that call with you on the spot.
Do you trade in my old decoder?+
We take it off your hands for proper recycling through MultiChoice's return scheme. There's no cash trade-in value on older units.
